About us

A lake, a legend and a way of working

Lake Alimagnet covers about 102 acres where Burnsville meets Apple Valley. It lies within Alimagnet Park, reached from County Road 11 two blocks north of County Road 42, and the park around the water has an enclosed seven-acre off-leash dog area, a launch for canoes and kayaks, paved and natural trails, cross-country ski trails for winter and ball fields for summer. The city acquired that land from a farm family. As for the unusual name, the story goes that someone blended three first names: Alice McQuillan, Maggie Davis and Nettie Judd, girls who lived in the neighborhood during the 1860s. Say the word slowly and you can almost hear all three. Treat it as local legend rather than settled history. Our company is not at the lake; we borrowed a name that could only come from here.

We are an independent company, so no manufacturer or store decides which brands we favor or which repairs we recommend. The work happens where the appliance lives, in your house, townhome, condo or apartment, and nothing gets hauled off to a shop. The technician measures before forming an opinion, clipping a meter onto parts such as the inlet valve, igniter or door lock and aiming an infrared thermometer at a refrigerator or freezer that runs warm. Then you hear the failed part named in everyday words and see a single written price. Nothing gets replaced until you agree to that number. Our vans stock the usual parts; when one must be ordered, the trip back carries no added trip charge, and the invoice spells out the written warranty.

Our base is in Burnsville, and from there our technicians cover Apple Valley, Eagan, Savage, Lakeville, Prior Lake, Rosemount and Bloomington. Those cities differ more than people expect. Burnsville and Apple Valley pump water at around 23 to 25 grains per gallon, Bloomington softens its supply at the city plant, and most Lakeville houses are far younger than the ramblers along Cedar Avenue. We stay with six kinds of machines: refrigerators and freezers in every layout, garage and basement units included; washers, whether front-loading, top-loading or stacked; dryers running on gas or electricity; dishwashers; ovens, ranges and cooktops, wall ovens and induction among them; and the ice makers inside refrigerators. A short list lets each van carry the parts those machines actually need.

Readings over hunches

No diagnosis comes from a guess or a phone description alone. The meter and the infrared thermometer decide which part failed, and you hear the result in words that make sense at the kitchen table.

A number that holds

The repair price is written down once, before work begins, and it does not grow while the technician is working. If you approve, the job starts; if you don’t, nothing gets replaced.

Maker’s warranty first

When the manufacturer still covers your machine, we say so before anything else, even if that sends the repair elsewhere. Your coverage is worth more to you than our invoice.

Clear about limits

Faults in the outlet, breaker or house wiring belong to an electrician, and we tell you when the meter points there. Parts inside the appliance are ours, and we stand behind them in writing.

Book the $89 diagnostic visit

Phone us or use the form. If the repair goes ahead, its price already holds the $89 diagnostic; if it doesn’t, $89 settles the visit.
